Tesla Model 3 shoppers won’t have a 100-kWh battery option.
It seems like most of Tesla’s announcements come in the form of a tweet from CEO Elon Musk, who recently confirmed there won’t be a Tesla Model 3 100D or P100D in the lineup. One potential Tesla customer asked Musk that if he purchased a P100D if it would later be upgradable to P110D, to which Musk responded that there are currently no plans to take the X, S (or 3) above 100 kWh.

Of course, his answer caused people to speculate if Musk just teased or hinted that a Model 3 with a 100-kWh battery was in the works. But Musk confirmed the Model 3’s wheelbase can’t accommodate a 100-kWh battery.
But since the Model 3 will be smaller, lighter and likely more aerodynamic, chances are it won’t need a 100-kWh battery to have sufficient range for the everyday commuter. Unfortunately, Musk didn’t confirm just how big of a battery the Model 3 will be receiving, but we expect more details this year before the entry-level sedan heads to production.
@jovanik21 @Veidit No, will be lower. Wheelbase can’t fit 100.
