Product placement in virtual worlds has been paying dividends for companies, and Nissan is looking to leverage Electronic Arts’ newest edition of SimCity by incorporating its Leaf EV into the game.
If you’re an avid gamer or SimCity fan, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the rough release of the always-online city builder, but that hasn’t stopped fans from building their virtual dream cities. Players will now be able to go green by creating EV-friendly cities starring the Nissan Leaf, the only electric vehicle in the game.
Players will also be able to install up to five Nissan-branded charging stations throughout their cities free of charge, which will give virtual city residents “EV smiles” as they drive around town.
“Nissan remains committed to finding innovative ways to promote the development of EV infrastructure and to bringing practical, affordable electric vehicles to markets throughout the United States,” said Jon Brancheau, VP of marketing, Nissan North America.
