This is our first look at what the remnants of Saab will become.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has announced a new car-sharing and ride-hailing program that will offer users access to a pair of models called the 9-3EV and 9-3XEV. The 9-3X model will be a small crossover, while the regular 9-3 will be a sedan. The service will operate in the Chinese city of Tianjin, where NEVS will provide vehicles to people and mobility services.
No powertrain details were offered on the electric car besides the company saying it will have an 186-mile range. On the inside, a high-tech experience is planned, with NEVS saying that features like a WiFi hotspot and over-the-air updates will be included. A new cabin air filter that claims to be “always clean” has also been used to remove 99 percent of hazardous particles from the air.

NEVS, a joint venture between several Chinese investors both inside and out of the country, acquired Saab‘s assets back in 2012 and has been turning the cars into electric vehicles ever since. So far, more than 150,000 9-3 EVs have been ordered from Chinese companies, with the car set to launch in 2018.
The vehicles will be on display at the CES Asia in Shanghai on June 7th.
