Unfortunately current Tesla owners won’t benefit since there’s a hardware improvement.

First reported by Electrek, Tesla has quietly updated its website with new specs for the Model S and Model X. The American automaker confirmed to the site that the changes consist of new software and hardware improvements, which means the performance enhancements are only available to new car buyers. The most significant of the changes come on the entry-level Model S 75 with its zero-to-60 time going from 5.5 seconds to 4.3 seconds. The Model S 75D also sees an improvement, doing the sprint in 4.2 seconds compared to the previous 5.2 seconds.

The Model S 100D doesn’t get quite as drastic of a change, considering it was already plenty fast to begin with. It does however hit 60 mph from a standstill 0.1 seconds faster at 4.1 seconds.

For the larger Model X SUV, the 75D goes from 6.0 seconds to 4.9 seconds, which is quite a noticeable difference in acceleration. The Model X 100D sees its zero-to-60 time drop from 5.2 seconds to 4.7 seconds.

There’s also a new seven-seat configuration for the Model X for $3,000, that allows the second- and third-row seats to fold flat to maximize cargo space.
