Tesla’s Director of Battery Engineering is No Longer with the Company

[See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] According to a recent report, Tesla's director of battery engineering left the company in recent weeks. Jalopnik reports Jon Wagner officially left the company within the past month, after joining Tesla in 2013. Wagner had worked as the team leader for battery pack design engineering and also helped develop technology in the Model 3, Model S, and Model X. In addition, Wagner served as interim director for battery manufacturing, body engineering, and computer aided engineering. According to his LinkedIn profile, it appears he is launching a new battery and powertrain company in California.

The American electric automaker has been struggling to ramp up production for the Model 3, citing issues at its Gigafactory in Nevada. CEO Elon Musk said Tesla didn't fully understand the Gigafactory's issues "until quite recently."
