Watch the Tesla Model 3 Parallel Park Itself

Tesla has plans to eventually enable a full self-driving function for the Model 3 sedan, but as of right now, Model 3 owners are driving themselves to their destinations (for the most part).

On the bright side, at least the Model 3 can park itself. A YouTube user uploaded a video of the Model 3 parallel parking itself this week, showing the compact EV sedan slipping itself between two parked cars.

To enable the function, the driver pulls up next to the spot he wants to park in and puts the car into reverse using the wiper-stalk style gear selector. He then presses a button on the center touchscreen display and releases his foot off of the brake, prompting the car to angle the front wheels and reverse into the spot before straightening itself out.

Check out the video embedded above. If you’re a hopeful Model 3 owner, Tesla opened up the order books to regular reservation holders this week (Tesla employees and shareholders have so far been the only ones to get themselves into a Model 3), so they’ll start to arrive in the public’s hands shortly.
