The second-generation Tesla Roadster may be the car of the moment, but the Rimac Concept One is the true pioneer of electric supercars.
The Concept One boasts some downright insane statistics. The EV supercar makes 1,224 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque between its four electric motors (one for each wheel) allowing it to reach speeds of up to 220 mph and accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Its 92 kWh battery pack also enables an electric range of 200 miles.
Rimac isn’t stopping there. The Croation automaker is also working on an all-new, next-generation electric supercar that will debut sometime next year. Jens Sverdup of Auto Iconica, Rimac’s distributor for the Americas, told us the company has had the vehicle in the pipeline for a few years now and that is is being developed from the ground-up. It’s safe to assume it will have even more performance on tap than the Concept One – which could put it within striking distance of the wild statistics Tesla is claiming for its second-gen Roadster.

The sole US Rimac retailer is New York’s Manhattan Motorcars, but that’s all set to change in 2018. Sverdup told us the automaker is adding five retailers to its US portfolio next year, which will be announced in March. These additional retailers will support sales of its yet-to-be-named next-gen supercar following its debut. Furthermore, the company just received a $30 million euro cash injection from Camel Group, Asia’s Largest battery manufacturer, which is allowing them to hire additional staff and dump more money into R&D.
It’s certainly exciting times over at Rimac, and for electric supercars in general.
