Chinese automaker Hybrid Kinetic Group has shown the new Pininfarina-designed H500 concept that it will bring to the 2018 Beijeing Motor Show.

The H500 Concept is a design study for a BMW 3-Series or Tesla Model 3 sized electric sedan. The design is fairly simple and straightforward, with cab-rearward design and a sloping roofline that looks to offer a generous amount of headroom for backseat passengers. The interior is especially futuristic, featuring a digital dashboard and center display, along with a smaller display screen mounted just ahead of the center armrest.

HK and Pininfarina didn’t provide details on the H500’s powertrain, but it will share most of its electric architecture with the production version of HK’s 550 and 750 SUVs and GT sports car. The concepts featured a relatively small 20 kWh battery pack with a micro-turbine generator serving as a range extender. HK claims the vehicles will have a range of up to 620 miles, so the H500 should feature similar specs. HK also claimed the GT sports car will be capable of doing 0-60 mph in 2.9s and reaching a top speed of 155 mph.

The work Pininfarina is doing for HK is not to be confused with parent company Mahindra’s plans for the Italian design studio. Reports indicate the Indian automotive giant hopes to rebrand Pininfarina and turn it into an electric car maker. The company’s first official product, an EV supercar with a turbine generator, was shown at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this year and is set to go into production shortly.

The 2018 Beijing Motor Show will kick off on April 25th.
