Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced a $78,000 performance-spec version of the Model 3.

Double the cost of a base Model 3, its latest dual-motor variant, offers a 310-mile range, 3.5-second 0-to-60 mph time, and a top speed of 155 mph with optional all-wheel drive for an extra $5,000. No word on horsepower and torque. On Twitter, Musk compared its speed and handling to a BMW M3. The $78,000 figure, which includes all options, does not include Autopilot driver-assist.

Other clarifications provided by Musk in subsequent exchanges with Twitter users include one color scheme, a black and white interior to start, as well as its dual-motor system with each motor operating independently in the event one breaks, each optimized for power and driving range, respectively. A third Twitter exchange brought up Tesla’s service team, called Tesla Ranger, where users can request an in-home appointment with a technician using an app.

At the moment, Tesla is concentrating on improving Model 3 production with a six-day shutdown scheduled for the end of May to fix operational bottlenecks. Musk has acknowledged many production issues were the result of “over automation” using robots instead of humans.

On the whole, the brand has reported losses of $709 million in Q1 this year against approximately 500,000 $1,000 deposits for the Model 3, with 8,180 delivered.
