5 Silly Names That Are Still Better Than Porsche Taycan

Porsche has just revealed the name it has reserved for the production version of its electric Mission E sedan: the Porsche Taycan.

The internet’s reaction to the Taycan has been swift and mostly negative. We’re willing to bet most North Americans won’t be able to pronounce it properly (like ty-cawn, in case you were wondering) and would have preferred if it was just called Mission E.

Following the announcement, we immediately started brainstorming weird, mostly terrible names that Porsche should have called the production Mission E instead of Taycan. Our dreamt up names may be bad, but they can be no worse than Taycan, right?

So without wasting any more time, here are our five alternative (and hopefully humorous) name proposals for the production Porsche Mission E.

5. Porsche Tabasco

Porsche’s already got Cayenne, so why not use Tabasco? Perhaps the Tabasco pepper is a bit too mild to be applied to such a fast car, though.

4. Porsche Mission Elon

Get it? The Mission E puts the Tesla Model S right in its crosshairs, and Tesla’s CEO is Elon Musk! Okay, this one is admittedly pretty terrible.

3. Porsche Benjamin

A nod to Benjamin Franklin’s foray into studying electricity! Not quite as noble as Tesla’s tribute to Nikolai Tesla, though.

2. Porsche Stecker

Stecker is German for plug. We like this one mostly because it sounds hilarious, though.

1. Ferd-E

Ferdy is a common nickname for those named Ferdinand, which you may know was the name of Porsche’s founder, Ferdinand Porsche. Ferdinand adopted the ‘Ferry’ nickname instead of Ferd-E, but Ferd-E is much more fun to say and is more of an obvious nod to Ferdinand himself. It would be a bit hard to take a car called Ferd-E serious, though.
