Come 2020, Audi says it will have an electric car that will charge to 80 percent in 12 minutes. That car is the upcoming e-tron Gran Turismo.

Speaking with Autocar, Johannes Eckstein, senior e-tron product marketing manager, said the e-tron GT will have the capability to take advantage of 350-kilowatt fast-charging stations. It’s been speculated the e-tron GT is Audi’s take on Porsche’s J1 platform, which will underpin the Porsche Taycan.

Thus, it appears the car will also share the Taycan’s fast-charging capability, and it will likely also sport up to 600 horsepower like the Porsche. Current battery technology won’t accept such high rates of charge, and Audi’s recently revealed e-tron crossover SUV will charge at a rate of just 150 kilowatts. The rate is enough to fast-charge the battery to 80 percent in roughly 30 minutes.

We’ll see our first look of the e-tron GT at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show this November. Audi confirmed it will show a concept vehicle previewing the future electric grand tourer and previously teased the car this past March.

Before Audi launches the e-tron GT in 2020, the brand has one more crossover SUV and a compact car planned as part of its approach to its first electric cars. Following the regular e-tron, Audi will debut an e-tron Sportback as a coupe-like crossover. The compact car will likely be a version of the next-generation A1 or A3. By 2025, the German brand plans to have 12 electric cars on sale.
