While sales of 1,864 units isn’t anything to boast about, the Nissan Leaf outsold the Chevrolet Volt last month by a margin of 76 units.
The Chevrolet Volt, which sold 1,788 units last month, has continually been benchmarked against the Nissan Leaf despite the Leaf being a full electric vehicle and the Volt being a plug-in hybrid. Regardless, the two automakers were one of the first ones to release plug-in vehicles in America though recent additions to the market are gaining traction.

As for the Leaf’s sales, it’s certainly getting a boost from its price cut and current lease offer of $199 a month versus the Volt’s $269 a month. Leaf sales in total were up 371 percent compared to July 2012 while Volt sales was just up 9.2 percent.
For the new contenders on the market, the Honda Fit EV had 63 units moved off dealer lots while the Accord plug-in hybrid had 54. The Toyota Prius Plug-in saw 817 in sales.
