Polestar revealed more details on what could possibly end up being its most popular model.

Polestar’s forthcoming electric SUV finally has an unveiling date – October 12. The electric crossover will be unveiled in a live-streamed event from Copenhagen, featuring the Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, and Polestar Head of Design, Maximilian Missoni.

Polestar calls the new EV crossover a “ powerful, design-led electric performance SUV that appeals to the senses with a distinct shape.” We don’t have official pictures, but from what we can see, the Polestar 3 appears to be a sleek compact to midsized SUV, about the same size as a BMW X3. From a dead-on rear shot, the roofline looks sleek, but not quite as coupe-like as the BMW X4, or electric-only Volvo C40.

Underneath, the Polestar 3 is expected to be powered by a rear-biased, twin electric motor setup making a maximum 517 horsepower and 671 lb.-ft. of torque, on optional Performance Pack equipped models. Polestar says this setup will offer torque vectoring. When paired with the new active damping suspension, the Polestar 3 is shaping up to be an electric SUV that can easily switch between comfort and outright sport. “It’s this instant ability to transform from a comfortable cruiser to a sharp, agile performance car in less than the blink of an eye that makes Polestar 3 special as an electric performance SUV,” said Ingenlath.

The car is expected to use the SEA2 platform, an evolution of the EV-capable SEA platform currently found on Volvo models, and likely will be used on the forthcoming EV-only Volvo XC90 replacement. The Polestar 3 should go on sale in early 2023, worldwide.
