The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV looks to change the landscape of affordable electric vehicles.
With a promised starting price around $30,000, entry level vehicles are claimed to travel 250 miles on a single charge. This could open electric vehicle ownership up to an entirely new customer base. Of course, there will also be more powerful, higher priced version with even greater range.
Before the vehicle goes on sale next year, we got a chance to spend some time with it at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Below we highlighted five interesting features on the upcoming 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV.
Different Trims = Different Looks
Depending on the trim level selected, the new Equinox EV will have a different look. The various LT trim levels can include an optional two-tone white roof. The sportier RS trim levels also have a two-tone roof option, but it comes in black. We like how Chevrolet is using something as easy to spot as the roof color to tell the trims apart from a quick glance. Of course there are other style cues that help differentiate the vehicles, like the wheels.

Screens for Days
Giant screens are really in vogue right now and the Equinox EV follows this trend. Standard on all trims of the new electric SUV is an 11-inch driver information display screen. This houses various bits of information behind the steering where the analog gauges traditionally would have been found. Entry level 1LT and 2LT trim levels accompany this screen with an additional 11-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Optional on the 2RS, and standard on the 3RS and 3LT is a larger 17.7-inch infotainment screen, as pictured above. This leaves about two-thirds of the dashboard swathed with customizable screens.
Neutral Density Taillights
The cool neutral density tail lights on the Equinox EV are for more than just illumination while braking or night visibility. The nearly full length rear lighting system features programmed animations on higher trim levels. Chevrolet didn’t get into great detail as to what all of the animations are or how they will appear. But we did find out that one of these functions is that they will show how much charge has been added to battery when the vehicle is plugged in.
Multitone Interior
Much like the exterior, the interior has multiple color options depending on trim level. The entry level 1LT model comes with an all back interior. The 2LT and the 3LT trims can be had with a Sky Cool Gray interior, as seen in the photo above. There is also the option on the higher LT trims for a black interior featuring blue accents.
The 2RS and 3RS trim levels can be had with a black interior as well, but with red accents. The other interior option for the RS models is an Adrenaline Red interior.

Winter Ready EV
A big fable about electric vehicles is that they cannot survive in cold weather climates. Although there is some performance drop off in below freezing temperatures, the same is true for gas-powered vehicles as well. The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is fully equipped to handle cold weather. There’s obvious features ready to tackle the worst winter has to offer, like the available all-wheel drive. But also available on higher trim levels are features that will keep occupants toasty warm and safe. There are seat heaters not just for those up front, but also the outboard rear row as well. There is a heated steering wheel and even a heated wiper park to ensure the wiper blades don’t freeze over with ice.
Expect to see the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV start to arrive in dealerships during the fall of 2023.
