The baby Volvo EV SUV drops this summer.

Volvo made waves at the debut of its EX90 flagship debut late last year, when it showed off the silhouette of a more petite SUV shape that clearly wasn’t the EX90. After speculation, Volvo finally confirmed its name – EX30. Now, the small EV crossover will debut on June 15.

As confirmed by Volvo CEO Jim Rowan, via an interview by the publication Carsales in Australia, the baby Volvo SUV will show up on June 15th. Rowan went on explain how the SUV’s market positioning and the ideal clientele is a little different from the rest of Volvo. Rowan told Carsales that the “demographic that we have at Volvo is a lot older than we would like” and that it wants to get younger people behind the wheel of its vehicles.

Thus, the EX30’s price point, sizing, and design are made to get young people in the showroom doors. The EX30 will be smaller and cheaper than the current XC40, but still offer good range and interior room for the size. Also, Volvo is aiming for a subscription-style vehicle purchase model, a move that the brand says resonates with young people, especially in Europe. Rowan has said in the past that the EX30 could be had for as little as a three-month lease term.

Whether or not the Volvo EX30 will make it to North America, or if Volvo will offer its subscription purchase model here, either. Whatever the case, we should know what the baby Volvo crossover will look like, on June 15.
