Polestar will drop the next model in its lineup at the Shanghai Auto Show.
We’ve got the Polestar 1 PHEV coupe, the Polestar 2 sedan, and now the Polestar 3 forthcoming crossover SUV. Now, the next model in the Polestar lineup is coming soon: the predictably named Polestar 4.
It’s no secret what the Polestar 4 is, though. Polestar says it will be a coupe-ized version of the Polestar 3. “Polestar 4 marries the aerodynamics of a coupé with the space of an SUV in a package enhanced by modern technology,” said Polestar. Yet, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath says that the new vehicle will be a bit more complicated than just a Polestar 3 with a slick roofline. Ingenlath says the entire vehicle has been reconsidered, compared to the Polestar 3. Its aerodynamic roofline will likely contribute to a sporty appearance, and possibly a boost in range compared to the Polestar 3. Whatever the case, Polestar claims the new model will be the fastest vehicle it has made, to date.
When it comes onto the market, the Polestar 4 will likely do battle against coupe-like and non-coupe-like EV shapes, like the BMW iX, or possibly the Genesis GV60. Pricing and the North American debut of the Polestar 4 haven’t been announced yet, but we don’t expect the Polestar 4 to be cheap. It will likely carry a price premium over the more practically shaped Polestar 3 crossover.
The Polestar 4 will debut at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, which starts April 18. It will be on display next to the Polestar 3.
