2015 VW e-Golf Named Most Efficient in Compact EV Segment

Volkswagen’s first full-electric vehicle for the U.S. is also the most efficient in its class.

The 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf has received a 126-MPGe city, 105-MPGe highway rating from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), giving it a combined score of 116-MPGe. The EPA also gave it an estimated range of 83 miles, helping make the e-Golf the most efficient car in its class for the 2015 model year.

The e-Golf features a 24.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor that provides a maximum of 115 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque. By using the standard charging cable and a 110/120-volt electrical socket, the e-Golf can fully charge its battery in roughly 20 hours. It also comes standard with a Combined Charging System (CCS) that can use SAE DC fast charging to bring the battery to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

The Volkswagen e-Golf will be available in select states starting November. Base price for all of this eco-friendly German engineering is $36,265.
