The Chevrolet Bolt name is sticking.
The American automaker’s marketing head, Tim Mahoney, has confirmed that the Bolt nameplate has been approved and it won’t be changing when the production model rolls out. Previous reports said that Chevrolet was mulling over a name change to avoid confusion with the existing Volt but Mahoney says that the name won’t be changed. In fact, Mahoney said that confusion between the two names “can be an advantage,” adding that the association of Bolt with Volt is nearly immediate with Chevrolet.

Unlike the Chevrolet Volt, which is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Bolt will be an all-electric vehicle and will get 200 miles on a single charge while priced at around $30,000. The company is investing $200 million to retool its Orion Assembly plant in Detroit to build the Bolt, but has not announced a schedule.
The Chevrolet Bolt concept made its debut earlier this year at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and was confirmed for production mere months later at the Chicago Auto Show.
