Audi-Electric-SUV-Teaser

Audi has confirmed some new additions to its SUV and crossover lineup.

The German luxury brand will launch its Q8 flagship SUV in 2019, while an all-electric sporty SUV will hit the market in 2018, the teaser for which can be seen above. Finally, the small Q1 subcompact crossover is set to hit the market next year.

The brand is working towards expanding its lineup to 60 models, up from 52 by 2020. This is backed by a $27 billion investment through 2019 to add new models and expand its worldwide production network, in hopes of removing BMW from the top spot in the global luxury world.

Audi’s first fully-electric vehicle will be the new crossover, which the brand says will have a 310 mile range. It will be based on the next-generation Q5 and it will wear the e-tron badge along with unique styling that is currently being developed and will be present on all of Audi’s future electric vehicles. The Tesla Model X will be the crossover’s biggest direct competition.

The new Q8 flagship will share its underpinnings with the Q7 and will sport a coupe-like appearance, comparable to the BMX X6.

This year, Audi has introduced the new Q7 and a redesigned TT while the new Audi R8 has just begun shipping to dealers. The brand expects to have a record-setting year, topping its previous record of 1.74 million units sold in one year.
