Tesla Model 3 preorders aren’t slowing down.

Update: Musk has just tweeted that orders have reached 253,000 as of 7:00 AM Pacific this morning.

CEO Elon Musk tweeted late last night that orders have reached 232,000, over 100,000 more than the 115,000 figure announced when the car was unveiled. Musk even admitted that he is “definitely going to need to rethink production planning,” considering how many people are at least considering to make the Model 3 their next car.

Although this past week’s debut is just “part 1” for the Model 3, the entry-level electric vehicle promises to deliver at least a 215-mile all-electric range and will be priced from $35,000. It has no intentions of being a slow car either, with the base model going zero-to-60 mph in less than six seconds while faster variants are in the works.
