Mercedes-Benz is shifting gears to put a focus on electric vehicles.
The German automaker has noticed the segment gaining market share and is adjusting its planning, CEO Dieter Zetsche told analysts during a call on second-quarter results. The company will reveal more of its plans for the electric car segment at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October. “It is very important to get the right timing,” Zetsche said. “As a tendency, and as a trend, we have become more bullish in that regard.”

Last month, Daimler’s chief development officer Thomas Weber revealed that Mercedes will bring out an all-electric prototype with a 310-mile range at the Paris Motor Show and it will go on sale before 2020. Rumor has it that Mercedes is working on a competitor for the Model S as well as one for the Model X, and the Model S fighter is “dangerously fast.”
