At an event where Tesla unveiled something big in a new all-electric big rig, the brand also took the chance to reinvent its smallest car, the Tesla Roadster.

Tesla is promising that the new sleek looking Roadster is set to hit the road by 2020, and it will do so with staggering performance, able to make the jump from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. If that spec holds true, the Roadster will be the quickest production car in the world.

The Roadster will use three electric motors, putting out an absolutely ridiculous 7,376 lb-ft of torque, able to propel the car from 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds. Tesla says the quarter mile time will be 8.8 seconds, while top speed will be pinned above 250 mph. If that’s not enough, Tesla promises that on the highway, the Roadster will be able to cruise for 620 miles before a recharge.

All-wheel drive is part of the package, while the Roadster will even be a four-seater, though the backseat is quite small. A removable glass roof is also part of the equation, allowing you to have an open-air experience.

Tesla is already collecting $50,000 deposits for the car, which will have a base price of $200,000. Or, if you want to be one of the 1,000 customers to get a Founders Series Roadster, you’ll have to pony up $250,000 up front.
