An image of a Chevrolet EV crossover was shown to the Barclays Global Automotive Conference this week during a presentation made by General Motors CEO Mary Barra.
The unnamed EV crossover appears to based on the Chevrolet Bolt EV, with a similar sized footprint and exterior styling reminiscent of the emissions-free hatch. The image above was included in a part of the presentation addressing General Motors’ electric vehicle roadmap, which will see the automaker introduce two emissions-free crossovers by 2020.
It’s not clear if this will be badged as a Chevrolet or a Buick, but we’re leaning towards it being a Chevy. While GM has come out and said Buick will play a major role in its EV push in coming years, this design looks too similar to the Bolt to be anything other than a bowtie-badged product.

As for the powertrain, it will probably be the same as the Bolt’s. The Bolt is motivated by a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a single electric motor making 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Its maximum range is an EPA-rated 238 miles. We could see GM making some minor improvements to the powertrain in order to squeeze a bit more range out of it, but it’s much too early to speculate on the nuances.
This looks like a fairly refined and complete design, so expect this mystery EV to make its debut sooner rather than later. We could see it by as early as next year – perhaps at the 2017 Detroit auto show.
