The Volkswagen e-Golf will be making its North American debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show next week.

The Volkswagen e-Golf will be the German automaker’s first fully-electric vehicle offering in the U.S. and will go on sale in select states in the fourth quarter of 2014. Powered by a 115 hp electric motor, the e-Golf delivers 199 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in 10.4 seconds. The top speed on the VW e-Golf will be electronically limited to 87 mph.

Its major selling point however is its range, allowing between 70 to 80 miles on average depending on driving style and charging behavior. A completely empty battery can be recharged in less than four hours through a 220-volt wallbox, while a standard 110/120-volt electrical socket will take around 20 hours to charge the battery to full capacity.

Visually, the e-Golf is differentiated from its brethren with energy-efficient LED headlights, a lack of exhaust tailpipes, aerodynamically optimized 16-inch wheels and a C-shaped LED DRL signature in the front bumper.
