Audi is looking to set the benchmark for electric vehicle performance.
Unveiled as part of the new second-generation R8 range, the R8 e-tron boasts 456 hp with 679 lb-ft of torque and is capable of going 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. Still, that’s not as quick as the Tesla Model S P85D that does it in 3.2 seconds, but for those that love the styling of an exotic coupe rather than a traditional sedan – there’s options. And yes, Audi promises that this R8 e-tron will make it to production and customers will be able to order it before the end of the year.

More importantly, the R8 e-tron proves that Audi is committing to performance electric vehicles and will likely incorporate the technology in an upcoming sedan to rival the Model S directly. The R8 e-tron also has an all-electric range of 276 miles with a two-hour charge time on a fast charger.
