Nissan Leaf Sales Reach 75K Milestone in US

Nissan has delivered 75,000 Leaf electric vehicles in the U.S.

The Japanese automaker celebrated the milestone with owner Rishabh Mehandru of Portland, Oregon, who is actually on his second Leaf after leasing his first one two years ago. With a commute of about 30 miles to his workplace at Intel, Mehandru knew after the lease was up on his first Nissan Leaf that he “didn’t want any other car.” The milestone Leaf is a 2015 black SV model and gets an EPA-estimated driving range of 84 miles.

The 2015 Nissan Leaf is priced from $29,860 including destination but before the maximum $7,500 federal tax credit.

“I’m a runner, and when I ran outside I found that I was inhaling a lot of exhaust from the gas-powered cars that passed me on the roads,” said Mehandru. “I instantly became aware of the amount of fuel I was burning, and that’s when I first decided that I wanted to get an electric car.”
