Volkswagen is considering new products to further capitalize on its flexible MQB architecture.
According to a recent report from Motor Trend, Volkswagen is considering finally giving the Microbus a nod for production. According to Dr. Heinz-Jacob Neusser, Volkswagen board member responsible for development, the German automaker is looking at how it can take advantage of the MQB platform to make the Microbus a reality. “Maybe it makes sense to think about a battery-electric car which doesn’t have the need to put all that space in front of the A-pillar because all you need is a small space for an electric motor in front, or perhaps you put it in the rear.” While Volkswagen is still looking to the possibilities, Neusser did say that the company will only bring a concept if it’s heading to production.
