The 2016 Nissan Leaf is rumored to get a bump to its all-electric driving range.
InsideEVs reports that the current generation Nissan Leaf will receive a larger 30-kWh battery on higher trim levels this fall as well as new color choices.
It is believed that the 2016 Nissan Leaf SV and SL trims will get the larger battery, allowing it to possibly get an EPA-rated range of 105 to 110 miles, an increase from its current 84 mile rating. The change is expected to hold the model over until the next-generation Leaf makes it debut as a 2017 model, which is expected to have a range of at least 168 miles. The SV trim level will also come standard with the CHAdeMO quick charge port.

As for the three new colors being added to the 2016 Nissan Leaf, they will be Forged Bronze, Coulis Red and Deep Blue Pearl, which will replace Morningsky Blue and Cayenne Red. Nissan hasn’t confirmed the changes to the 2016 model year, but the change would help give the model a boost, especially since Chevrolet has its next-generation Volt on the horizon.
