Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that the first Tesla Model X production cars will be handed over to their new owners on September 29 at the company’s Fremont factory.

For what seems like the entirety of this year, Musk has had to reiterate and confirm that Tesla Model X deliveries would begin in late September after numerous delays. Still, it seems like no one believes that Model X deliveries will actually start at the end of the month, despite the fact that people who put their names on a waiting list have begun the configuration and pricing process.

With some buyers getting the option to build their own Model X crossovers, pricing has been revealed and some have taken to the Internet to vent on how expensive the Model X is. Musk defended the Model X’s pricing, saying that the Signature Series model is fully loaded and that’s why it has a high price. For regular buyers, the Model X with the same options will be “$5k more than an S due to greater size and body complexity.”
